Mohanlal plays lorry driver
Whenever Mohanlal has acted in toughie roles set in rustic backdrops, the film has been received well by the public. Viji Thampi in Kanal (burning coal) has cast Mohanlal as Balaraman the lorry driver.
The bamboo cultivation season lasts for six months in Chitaoyikal village. The village then sees the visit of Balaraman the lorry driver who is very tough and a man of few words. An unsavoury past had made him into a man with no tender feelings. A girl in the village manages to break the ice with the lorry driver but a turn of events makes him more violent. Padmapriya is the leading lady. Suresh Babu writes the screenplay.
Sneha, Trisha in Mammooty film
Sneha and Trisha are likely to play the lead roles in Mammooty starrer Thuruppugoolan. The film is a mixture of action and comedy.
Mammooty plays Kunjumon who runs his family business of fast food in Calicut, his father looks after the joint in Kochi and brother is in charge of the Trivandrum branch. With the fast food business chain growing, the business rivals target the Kochi branch; to counter the rivals, the father summons Kunjumon the Thoorupugoolan ( trump card) to tackle the rivals. Innocent plays father and the film is directed by John Antony.
Suresh Gopi’s SP postponed
Suresh Gopi’s SP to be directed by Shaji Kailas has been postponed. The same team will now report on the sets of Chintamani kollacase. This dramatic turn of events has created lot of speculation in the industry.
SP is said to be a film about the recent political happenings in Kerala and said to be an expose on the present political games and their links with the underworld. According to sources on the eve of SP shooting pressure mounted on the director to drop the subject. In an overnight development the director and hero signed up for Aroma Movies to do Chintamani Kollacase. A K Sajan writes the script of this film. Says Suresh Gopi, “My Bharathchandran IPS is getting ready for release and so I don’t want another police officer role immediately so the change."
